New Developments
2024-02-27: New USD 20 Million Carbon Capture Plant in Singapore to Remove 10 Metric Tonnes of CO2 Daily
The Equatic-1, a USD 20 million full-scale demonstration plant, is a collaboration between Singapore’s national water agency PUB, UCLA, and the startup Equatic, founded by UCLA scientists. Co-funded by PUB, the National Research Foundation (NRF) Singapore, and UCLA’s Institute for Carbon Management (ICM), the project follows successful pilot operations in Los Angeles and Singapore. Once fully operational at PUB’s research and development facility in Tuas, Equatic-1 will be capable of removing ten metric tonnes of carbon dioxide per day from seawater and the atmosphere, a significant increase from the 100 kg per day capacity of Equatic’s existing plant in Singapore.
2024-02-13: Veolia Launches Feasibility Study to Capture Carbon Emissions from Waste and Produce Green Fuels in the UK
Veolia has commenced a site feasibility study in the UK to explore capturing carbon emissions from energy recovery facilities (ERFs) that burn non-recyclable biogenic waste. The project aims to produce green fuels by capturing, extracting, and purifying CO2. Utilizing Advanced Amine technologies developed by Veolia’s in-house design teams, the system can capture carbon emissions from the incineration process, where approximately 60% of the CO2 is biogenic. This captured CO2 can then be combined with green hydrogen to create synthetic green fuels such as eKerosene, eMethanol, and other specialty chemical products, ultimately helping to reduce the carbon intensity of shipping and air travel.
